#10 India v Sri Lanka – 414/7
India scored immense 414 for 7 wickets v Sri Lanka at Rajkot on 15 December 2009. The score stands at number 10 in the list of highest team total scores in ODI. Winning the toss Sri Lanka decided to bowl first. Indian batsmen proved the decision wrong and smashed Lankan bowlers to all parks. Virender Sehwag scored 146 runs off 102 balls smashing 17 fours and 6 sixes. Sachin Tendulkar and MS Dhoni also contributed 69 and 72 runs respectively. Indian batsmen smashed total of 43 fours and 12 sixes in this huge total. The match itself turned out to be an exciting run chase. In return Sri Lanka scored 411 runs and lost by only 3 runs courtesy Dilshan’s 160 runs. Aggregate score of the match was 825 runs which is second highest match aggregate in ODI.
#09 Australia v Afghanistan – 417/6
Kangaroos bared no forgiveness and shattered the Afghanistan bowlers all-round the park in ICC ODI world cup 2015 group stage match. Aussies scored a huge total of 417 runs on 4 March 2015 at Perth. This is till date the highest total in One Day International world cup history. David Warner took special likings to Afghan bowlers and smashed 178 runs of 133 balls hammering 19 fours and 5 sixes. Steve Smith contributed with 98 runs. While Maxwell knocked 88 runs of 39 balls which helped at the end to get this immense total. Australia won the match by the margin of 275 runs. This was Australia’s biggest win in ODI in term of runs.
#08 India v West Indies – 418/5
8th of the highest team total scores came from Indian team v West Indies at Indore on 8 December 2011. Winning the toss India decided to bat first. Verinder Sehwag’s total dominance took India’s total score to 418 runs for five wickets. Sehwag contributed with 219 runs in 156 balls in 8th highest team total scores. He smashed 25 fours and 7 sixes in this score. His 219 runs are still 3rd ever highest individual score in ODI. Gautham Gambhir and Suresh Raina also contributed with fifties. Indian team cracked 48 fours and 7 sixes in total. In return West Indies were able to score only 265 runs. India won this match with huge margin of 153 runs.

#07 South Africa v Zimbabwe – 418/5
South Africa decided to bat first after winning the toss on a good batting wicket at Potchefstroom on 20 September 2006. South Africa’s openers Bosman and Peterson batted brilliantly at the top of the innings and added 160 runs for the first wicket. After getting a strong base from the openers Mark Boucher continued charge to Zimbabwe bowlers. He scored the 4th fastest century in ODI on just 44 balls. He continued smashing Zimbabwe bowlers and scored 147 off 68 balls. Boucher smashed 8 fours and 10 sixes. Kallis also contributed with 50 runs. South Africa scored 418 runs in total which are the 7th highest team total scores in ODI. African batsman hammered 36 fours and 15 sixes in total.
#06 Australia v South Africa – 434/4
The match played between Australia and South Africa is considered to be arguably best ever match in one day international cricket. This was the match in which first time ever the score of 400 or more was reached. The match was played at New Wanderers Stadium Johannesburg on 12 March 2006. Winning the toss Australia chose to bat first.
The innings started with a cracker from Adam Gilchrist who scored 55 runs off 44 deliveries hitting 9 fours. Symons Katich also contributed with 79 runs at the top. Coming to bat at number 3, Ricky Pointing built on the strong base provided by the openers. He smacked 164 runs of 105 balls hitting 13 fours and 9 sixes in his colossal innings. Mike Hussey ended the innings with brilliant 81 runs off 51 balls to reach 434 runs. Australian batsmen struck 43 fours and 14 sixes in total. The team score was highest ever ODI team score at that time. Now the score stands at number 6 in highest team total scores in ODI.
#05 South Africa v India – 438/4
South Africa team holds 5th position too in highest team total scores in ODI. They scored mammoth 438 runs at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on 25 October 2015. South Africa won the toss and elected to bat first. Quinton de Kock took charge to the Indian bowlers. He went on to score 109 runs off 87 balls. He smashed 17 fours and 1 six in his innings. Coming at number 3 and 4 AB de Villier and Faf du Plessis also scored centuries. Faf du Plessis scored 133 runs off 115 balls smashing 9 fours and 6 sixes before he was retired hurt.
De Villiers hammered quick fire 119 of 61 balls smashing 3 fours and 11 sixes. They scored 88 runs in last 6 overs. South African batsmen nailed 38 fours and 20 sixes to reach the score of 438. South Africa won that match by massive margin of 214 runs.
#04 South Africa v Australia – 438/9
Highest ever score in one day international was chased by Australia v South Africa at New Wanderers Stadium Johannesburg on 12 March 2006. At that time highest team score was made in first innings by Australia and was chased down in the second inning by South Africa. The chase is till date the highest ever run chase in one day international. After early loss of Dippenar’s wicket Smith and Hershel Gibbs continued the quest for run chase. Captain Smith scored 90 runs off just 13 fours and 2 sixes. Hershel Gibbs scored 175 runs off 111 balls hitting 21 fours and 7 sixes.
Apart from Gibbs’s innings, Mark Boucher’s 50 runs and Van der Wath’s little cameo of 35 runs helped South Africa runs chase at the end. African batsmen struck 44 fours and 12 sixes in their successful run chase. Ricky Pointing and Hershel Gibbs were declared combined man of the match.
#03 South Africa v West Indies – 439/2
South Africa set the record of 3rd highest team total scores in ODI v West Indies at New Wanderer Stadium Johannesburg on 18 January 2015. Many records were broken in the match. This match will be remembering for AB de Villiers breathtaking fastest hundred in ODI. Batting first South Africa scored 439 runs for loss of only 2 wickets. Getting this total losing only 2 wickets is incredible cricket record. Both openers of South Africa scored centuries.
Hashim Amla scored 153 runs off 142 balls hitting 14 fours and remained not out. Rile Rossouw also contributed with 128 runs off 115 balls smashing 11 fours and 2 sixes. Batting at number 3, AB de Villiers changed the whole complexion of the match. He smashed fastest fifty of one day internationals scoring 50 in just 16 balls. De Villiers did not stop hammering West Indian bowlers. He continued to score fastest century in 31 balls. De Villiers scored stunning 149 runs in 44 balls. He smashed 16 sixes in this innings.

#02 Sri Lanka v Netherlands – 443/9
Sri Lankan batsmen smashed the Netherlands bowlers all-round the park in a One Day International (ODI) match in 2006 at VRA Ground, Amstelveen. Sri Lanka scored a gigantic total of 443 runs. This total is 2nd highest team total scores in ODI. Sanath Jayasuriya and Tilakaratne Dilshan both scored centuries and took Sri Lanka’s total to 443. Jayasuriya 157 runs in 104 balls. He hit 24 fours and 1 six in his innings. Dilshan 117 runs off 78 balls smashing 15 fours and 2 sixes. Netherlands bowlers also contributed 34 extra runs in this massive total. This match will always be remembered for Sanath Jayasuriya’s ruthless hitting. Sri Lankan batsmen hit 56 fours and 3 sixes in this immense total of 443 runs.
#01 England v Pakistan – 444/3
English team made highest team total scores in ODI v Pakistan at Nottingham on 30 August 2016. Batting first English team scored 444 runs for the loss of only 3 wickets. Alex Hales smashed Pakistani bowlers from the very beginning. He scored 171 runs off 122 balls. He struck 22 fours and 4 sixes. Joe root, Jos Buttler and Eoin Morgan also contributed with fifties. Joe root scored 85 runs in 86 balls. Jos Buttler smashed 90 runs in 51 balls. His innings comprised of 7 fours and 7 sixes. English captain paced the innings at the end scoring 57 runs of just 27 balls hitting 3 fours and 5 sixes in his cameo. English batsmen struck 43 fours and 16 sixes reaching highest team total scores in ODI.
