While chasing a total of 318 runs V England, home team South Africa openers Q de Kock and HM Amla put on an opening partnership of 239 runs. De Kock scored 135 runs of 117 balls. HM Amla finished up with 127 runs of 130 balls. South Africa won by 7 wickets with 22 balls remaining.

HM Amla and RR Rossouw contributed 247 runs one of the highest opening partnerships. Three of the South African batsmen scored centuries. Including HM Amla 153, RR Rossouw 128 and AB de Villiers 149 of just 44 balls. This was the first time there were three individual centuries scored in an ODI innings.

In that charismatic match India scored 307 runs playing first. SC Ganguly and SR Tendulkar were involved in opening partnership of 252 runs. Ganguly scored 109 runs along with Tendulkars 128. Sri Lanka lost that match by only 7 runs giving a feast chase.

Finishing on 256-0, Hales and Roy put together the highest partnership for England in ODIs and the fifth of the highest opening partnerships by any team in a 50-over international. Now this partnership has scrolled down to 6. Both batsmen remained not out while chasing a total of 255 V Sri Lanka. J Roy scored 112 runs along with AD Hales 132. The partnership is record opening partnership for England in One day Internationals.

Batting first New Zealand crossed 400 runs barrier scoring 402 runs. JAH Marshall and BB McCullum’s opening partnership contributed 274 runs. Marshall scored total of 161 runs. While McCullum ended up scoring 166 runs. New Zealand won that match by 290 runs.

Sanath Jayasuriya scored 152 from 99 balls with 20 fours and 4 sixes while Tharanga finished with 109 from 102 balls with 14 fours and a six.
